Detoxify in Santa Barbara Salt Caves
Schedule a salt therapy session, mineral facial, sound bath session or yoga class at the largest underground Himalayan salt cave in North America (60 tons of pink rock, for the record). It just happens to be in the heart of healthy hotspot Santa Barbara, making it easily accessible by car from anywhere in Southern Cali—especially Los Angeles.
Camp Under Canvas
Under Canvas takes the hassle out of camping with its luxury tents that are so comfortable they may beat out the best hotel you’ve ever stayed in, yet they provide immediate access to the great outdoors. Once you’ve spent your day experiencing the beauty and adventure of any of these National Parks, you can return to your luxury glamping resort and unwind in style. Spend your time at this glamping resort in stunning countrysides exploring nature, hiking, biking, golfing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding or fishing.
Canvas tents are vast with high ceilings and luxury furniture. Campfires, and planned activities are offered, while picnic lunches are available.
The glamping season is open in Moab, Utah (near Arches and Canyonlands National Parks), and near Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Under Canvas Zion, right next door to the entrance of Zion National Park, recently opened, and in 2018, Under Canvas Grand Canyon in northern Arizona will open its doors…or, tents.
Hot and Cold Plunge in the Monterey Peninsula
We’re back in Cali now! Next stop is Carmel-By-The-Sea (about three hours from San Francisco) to take a dip in the hot and cold pools at Refuge Spa. Relax, detoxify, and improve your cardiovascular and immune systems at America’s largest co-ed relaxation spa—including six hot and warm pools + four Nordic cold plunge pools. Plus, they have a eucalyptus steam room and cedar saunas. Just say AHHHHHHHHHHHHH…..
Open Up at an Organic Farm
Now this one is for my friends in the South—Georgia to be exact. Head on over to explore Serenbe, a wellness-focused community right outside Atlanta. It’s been dubbed “the Hamptons of the South.” Tour the town’s 25-acre organic farm, plus its 40-acre arts complex, and then brunch at one of three farm-to-table restaurants.
Each of Serenbe’s four hamlets have complementary commercial centers focused on the elements of a well-lived life: arts for inspiration, agriculture for nourishment, health for wellbeing and education for awareness.
Fresh food is another of Serenbe’s natural assets, with a 25-acre organic farm, seasonal Saturday Farmers Market, thriving CSA program and edible landscaping (what!?), including blueberry bushes along paths and sidewalks.
Year-round cultural events include outdoor theater from Serenbe Playhouse, culinary workshops and festivals, music events, films and lectures, boutique shopping, art galleries, a spa and trail riding, plus a robust Artist in Residence program featuring dinners and community talks.
Serenbe is a place you can enjoy for a meal, a weekend, or call home for a lifetime. Yes, that means you can actually live there too! I’m thinking about it…
Find Your Center in Big Sur, California
For decades, Big Sur has drawn in the yogi set to practice their poses, especially at the legendary and picturesque Esalen Institute. Esalen’s cliff-side hot springs have been in ritual and healing use by the Esselen Indians and others for more than 6,000 years.
This stunning coastal destination offers more than just yoga though. It also offers massage, healing and creative arts, plus dreamy sulfur hot spring baths that are like a giant shower out in the open and right on a cliff with waves pounding against it.
And you don’t have to go to Esalon to enjoy a healthy road trip adventure in Big Sur. This versatile location also offers camping, more Glamping, hiking, you name it…
